The June 21, 1947, issue of Box office
Magazine said the new Del Rio Theater had
opened recently. The owner was William
Peters, who also owned the El Rey Theater
in Manteca, the Rio Theater in Ripon, and
the Lyric Theater in Escalon.
The Del Rio had 750 seats, 135 of them loges.
The architect was O.E. Deichmann of San
Francisco, who also designed the Park
Theatre in Menlo Park.
Most recently used as a restaurant next door
to the auditorium, the big room was last
used as a community theater, by both the
Riverbank Community Theater and Rio Arts
organizations. It hosted stage productions,
art shows, gospel shows, dinner theater and
